Our members are a diverse community of over 100 sustainable businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area. We strengthen our businesses through networking, education, and partnership opportunities. We learn from and support each other through strong community and collaboration.

Our mission is to promote sustainable business practices, nurture the environmentally-committed business sector, advocate the environmentally progressive policies, and improve the environmental profile of economic activity in the East Bay.

Bay Area Seed Interchange Library (BASIL) 11th Annual Seed Swap


Potluck supper, hoe down music, home-grown garden seeds, and the company of fantastic local gardeners! Learn about seed saving classes and the Library. BASIL is a project of the Ecology Center. Please bring a garden related "white elephant" treasure to raffle.

Free Worm Composting Workshop


Come on down and get the scoop on worm composting from Lori Caldwell, Compost Educator with the Bay-Friendly Gardening program.  Worm composting can be an especially good choice for apartment dwellers and others lacking yard space.  Find out how to compost kitchen scraps into free, nutritious fertilizer using red wiggler worms.  The class is geared for beginners but those who already compost with worms and need advice are welcome too. Free compost bin drawing at the end of the workshop.
