Congratulations, Madam President!
History was made today at St. Sava Church. For the first time ever, a female Executive Board President was elected. Yvonne Orlich, whom we affectionately call Vonnie, is our new President. She is, of course, already very active and will need everyone's continued support.
Outgoing President Dennis Svilar's leadership has brought us through 6 years of struggles to pay off the mortgage, remodel the south wing into a functioning social center, build classrooms, move Serb Fest from 49th Avenue to the new church grounds, sell the 49th Avenue property, build the north kitchen, and start the new Pavilion construction project. These tasks were done through the support and physical work of many parishioners and his board members. During these difficult financial times, it is important to note that St. Sava Church has no debt. With great appreciation and gratitude, we wish Dennis good health.
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
The Executive Board invites you to participate in the Annual Membership meeting at 1:00 p.m. following the Luncheon in the South Wing. You can pay your Dues at this meeting. Annual Dues are $150. There are very important decisions to be made, so please make every effort to attend.
Notice of Special Meeting - Sunday, April 11th
Dear Member,
On Sunday, April 11, 2010 a "Special Meeting" will be held at 1:30 pm in the South Wing Social Center to bring up an innovative idea for discussion.
Looking to the future we would like to research the idea of constructing an "Assisted Living" complex on our Church property.
This project would need the majority of support of our Church Membership before we can even begin to investigate all that would be involved. There is much research required to determine how to build, where to build, how to finance it, and how to fill it.
This meetng is not to decide if we do or do not build Assisted Living: this is to decide if you, the membership, want us to research the possibilities of doing so.
In order to go forward with the required research it will take time and some money and before the process is started we would need the approval of the majority of the membership.
It is very important that we have as many members as possible in attendance at this meeting. Please make every attempt possible to attend on Sunday April 11.
This is NOT an Extraordinary Meeting, this is a Special Meeting for the discussion of exploring the opportunities of bringing Assisted Living to our Church and your opinion whether we should or should not do so is important.
Thank you and please enjoy a Blessed Holy Week.
Sincerely,
Dennis Svilar
President-Executive Board
