Service Doctor resurfacing department specializes in repairing cracked, soft bottom or leaking bathtubs and showers in Northwest Indiana. Our process has been time tested over the last 11 years we have been repairing bathtubs and showers in Lake, Porter and La Porte counties. Bottom cracks are caused by weakening of the fiberglass or acrylic substrate eventually leading to leaking. You must start with a proper foundation to build a home, building or repair a cracked bathtub or shower. Service Doctor uses a proprietary process and product to ensure a solid  foundation before starting any repair. Service Doctor starts by drilling several holes in and around the crack. The holes are drilled to inject our proprietary material under the bathtub or shower bottom to create a solid foundation. As we inject our resin patch with a caulk tube into the pre drilled holes it hits a solid substrate and then flows out the exit holes making sure the cavity below the bathtub or shower is completely filled. The resin we inject hardens with in a few minutes so our resurfacing repair technician can begin the next step in the repair process. It can take from one caulk tube of resin patch to as many as eight tubes. Most companies repair by injecting foam under the bathtub or shower which doesn’t harden for several hours to a few days. If the repair is made without a solid foundation it will fail within a couple of months.

The next step in the resurfacing repair process is to repair the crack with a combination of fiberglass matte, kitty hair, resins and water proof fillers to strengthen the repair. After all the structural repair is completed the resurfacing technician will use water proof fillers to cosmetically get the effected area smooth and feathered in ready for the final step of top coating the area. The resurfacing technical uses a commercial airbrush system or HVLP(high volume low pressure spray system )to coat the repair. Our resurfacing service and repair vans are equipped with exact match resins to spray the effected area if the manufacturer name and color are known. If you do not know the manufacturer of color it is not a problem for our resurfacing technician to custom color match on site. Some older colors that are yellow, green or blue will be very hard to match. If we can not get a color match it is not a problem to resurface the entire bathtub or shower with our two part polyurethane. All repairs are guaranteed for one year and the resurfacing is guaranteed for 5 years. A resurfaced bathtub or shower can last indefinitely if cared for properly during the cleaning process.

An average repair cost for a bathtub or shower bottom crack is $260.00. To tear out a shower or bathtub takes up to a week and can cost from $2000 to $3000. This saves you 85% to 90 % over replacement. Service Doctor also removes and replaced bathtubs and showers but recommends the resurfacing repair process over new allowing the customer to put their budget in to other areas of the bathroom adding enjoyment and value to the home.

RESURFACING

Our most economical way of brightening and renewing your kitchen cabinets is to resurface them. When we resurface kitchen cabinets we spray a two-part urethane coating over them. Most kitchens take less than one week. We start by removing all doors and hardware, then clean and sand the cabinets. We carefully mask off all areas not to be resurfaced and then we primer the cabinets. Finally, we top coat the cabinets with our exclusive two part urethane coating.
This coating is a solid (non translucent) color. It gives the cabinets a "painted" or "lacquered" look. But it is better because paint and lacquer tend to yellow and chips easily, our two-part urethane does not. When we resurface your cabinets, all options are possible. We can re-use your existing hardware or replace it; we can reuse your existing doors or replace them; we can resurface your cabinets in any color or a combination of more than one color. Replacing- We can replace your countertops in many different materials and styles. We commonly provide and install new laminate, granite, and solid surface countertops. Laminate is the traditional material and is the least expensive option for replacing. However, it may burn, chip,or scratch. It comes in hundreds of colors and pattern combinations. Granite is usually more expensive but harder and more durable, but it can stain if not properly maintained. Solid Surface is usually the most expensive but is more durable and can be repaired if it is scratched or burned, and it will not permanently stain.
