Talk With 2011 Imprint Artist In Residence Kota Ezawa
San Francisco Center for the Book 2011 Imprint Publications Artist in Residence Kota Ezawa will be giving a talk in conjunction with his 2011 residency on the creation of Paper Space, a 4-page pop-up book consisting of paper cut-out dioramas based on film and TV depictions of historic events from the mid 19th century to the present. Ezawa will speak on the production of the piece, as well as situating Paper Space within the context of his other work.
About the artist: Kota Ezawa is a kind of video, film and photography archeologist, unearthing animations and still images that are hidden in archival footage. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions domestically and internationally. Ezawa is an Assistant Professor at California College of the Arts and lives in San Francisco and Berlin.
The talk will include viewing of the exhibition currently on display in the Austin/Burch Gallery, featuring earlier work by Ezawa. The event is free and open to the public. The artists' book Paper Space will be available for sale.
