WHY I AM RUNNING AGAINST ANDRE CARSON

On April 16, 2012, a reporter with a newspaper in Indiana phoned me and asked some questions for a story.  In one part of the interview, he asked me why I was running against Andre Carson when it seemed like such a long shot.  I gave him a quick answer.  But, later I decided to send him a more complete answer.  It was a good question.  Here is the more complete answer that I emailed to the reporter but with a few edits so that it is more general and less specific to the reporter and his newspaper.  I hope that you like it.

One line of questions that you had for me was why am I running with such big odds against me?  It is a valid question.  I gave you a quick answer in the phone call.  Then, I thought about that question more.  Here are some additional comments to answer your question.

I am not a religious scholar.   But, I do remember that part of the Talmud says that if you witness evil and say or do nothing to oppose the evil, then you become a participant in the evil.

The Obamacare law is both bad and evil.  It is the most ANTI-LIFE, ANTI-SENIOR CITIZEN, and ANTI-CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS LAW THAT WAS EVER PASSED.

If a President and Congress are ready and willing to ignore the constitutional rights of Catholics today, what would prevent them from ignoring the constitutional rights of Jews, Hindus, Protestants, or other citizens next week, next month, or next year?

Over a hundred years ago, abolitionists had to speak for slaves who were regarded as less than human.  Today, I am speaking for unborn children that our government says are less than human.  But, I’m speaking for senior citizens that the federal government under Obamacare regards as less than full citizens.  I am speaking for Catholics and others who oppose the federal government ordering them to participate in abortion, euthanasia, and other objectionable government policies.

Whether I win or lose matters less to me than the fact that I took a stand against the bad and evil Obamacare law and the Congressman Andre Carson who supports that bad and evil law.  I fear that the Obamacare law is pushing America down a path that will lead to Nazi-like fascist government in the U.S.A. where no one has any rights except those who are part of the greedy government elite class.

So, I think that the reason that I am running with such great odds against me is simple.  I care.  I don't want to say or do nothing against this bad and evil law and not be able to live with myself or sleep at night.
